Watchdog Timer Restarts PCs Automatically

Watchdog Timer boards from CyberResearch® quickly bring your PC back on line after crashes caused by bugs or system errors. If your PC controls or monitors a process, the time saved is critical. Your PC goes back on line in moments, instead of hours or days.

PCI versions of Watchdog Timer boards offer you eight timeout levels, from 0.5 to 510 seconds. An on-board single-pole double-throw relay is controlled by software during normal operation and is set to switch on or off after the timeout interval has passed. This relay is rated for 110Vac at 0.5A.

Two PCI models are available; one for AT power supplies, the other for ATX power supplies. Each includes a DB-9 male connector for relay wiring connections, and both are compatible with Windows® 98/2000/ME/NT4.

The ISA Watchdog Timer board offers timeouts from 10ms to 10 minutes in 10-ms increments. Its DB-15 male connector brings out clock outputs and a single-pole single-throw output relay that can be used to control or reset other system functions while the PC is off line. All three models include source code and examples in TurboC, Turbo Pascal, and QuickBasic.
