The more efficient a power supply is at converting AC power into DC power for your computer, the more energy is used by your PC system, instead of wasted as heat. Active Power Factor Correction (PFC) also reduces energy consumption by lowering the Apparent AC power (VA) used. Less heat means PC cooling fans don't have to work as hard, using less electricity themselves (and creating less noise).
