Add ISA Slots to Your PCI-bus Computer! The PRO 700 is a PCI-to-ISA bus extender kit, allowing you to attach ISA cards to a PC with a PCI slot. It consists of a PCI card you place in your PC, an ISA card you place in the case for your new ISA slots, and a cable to connect those cards together. Choose either an ISA backplane (some are shown below) or one of our MicroBox PC cases with an ISA backplane (see MicroBox PCs in the Industrial Computer menu). This provides ISA slots which can be used to add expansion cards to your computer. The PRO 700 allows your PC to control these ISA slots, but it does not support ISA cards that require DMA or Bus Mastering.
Please note that ISA cards mounted in the expansion chassis/ISA backplane are
subject to some restrictions. The PRO 700 is designed to support ISA boards that
operate via I/O accessing (using I/O instructions). It does not support DMA (or
boards that directly access memory), boards that use a specific I/O port address
(i.e. board must allow its I/O address to be reset), I/O addresses F8h to FFh,
or boards that require an I/O wait of more than 1µs. Additionally, CPU cards
or boards that output control signals to the PC are not supported, and you
cannot use a board in the expansion unit to add another I/O expansion unit.
Caution: do not connect or disconnect any part of this system with the power on. Do not attepmt to add or remove cards with the power on. Power the expansion chassis on at the same time or before powering on your PC. Power down the PC at the same time or before powering down the expansion chassis.
Any of our rack-mount or MicroBox PCs with ISA slots make excellent expansion chassis for your ISA cards. We feature models with 3 to 20 ISA slots, and power supplies of all sizes.
