COMHP 7161-D25 comes with a 16C854 UART, which makes Windows programming easy beccause it emulates the more common 16550 UART.

COMHP 7161-X-D25 comes with a 16950 UART, which adds isochronous communications and 9-bit protocols, plus programmable choice of transmission speed -- recommended for savvy programmers.
