Introduction

Our ESH 400 series ISA boards function as motion-control coprocessors--they can execute detailed motion commands, leaving your PC free to handle overall supervision. Your PC can download a string of commands to the queue assigned to each axis, and then forget about it. The controller can interrupt your PC when the command string has been executed, or have the PC coordinate the motion process with other activities.

The ESH 400 series controllers get their intelligence from an on-board Motorola MC68332 32-bit microcontroller. With it you get up to 8 axes of motion control and encoder feedback.

The stepping-motor control pulse is a TTL-level square wave with a 50% duty cycle. Pulse outputs for each axis are compatible with any stepping, servo, or linear motor drive that accepts digital step and rate pulses. The result of microstepping, high pulse rates, and trajectory profiles is that your motors run smoothly at all speeds withput "stop-and-go," cogging, or resonance effects.
