Our SMD series with optional indexer and encoder feedback are highly integrated controllers and drivers in a extremely small package, measuring only 3.0 x 2.7 x 1.2 in. They make use of advanced surface-mount and ASIC technology for unmatched performance, reliability, and value.
These high-resolution microstepping drivers are capable of up to 256 microsteps per full step. This gives you the ultimate in positioning accuracy and smooth motion without resonance--up to 51,200 steps per revolution. All SMD series drivers include an intelligent controller.
You get superior results because we have integrated standard hardware with variable resolution microstep control. At low shaft speeds, the indexer produces high-resolution microstep positioning for silent resonance-free operation. As shaft speed increaswes, the output step resolution is expanded with on-motor-pole synchronization. At the compleotion of a move, the target microposition is trimmed to 1/100 of a step to achieve and maintain precise positioning.
SMD 483 drivers support 12 to 48 VDC and 0.4 to 3 A per phase (4A peak). SMD 1007 drivers handle 24 to 80 VDC and 2 to 7 A per phase (10 A peak). Models with suffix IE add an encoder input for feedback, and models with suffix IE-DE include a differential encoder. Models with suffix -232 have an RS-232 interface instead of the standard RS-422 interface.
These drivers include circuits that minimize ripple current while maintaining a 20-kHz chopping rate. This prevents additional motor heating common indrivers requiring higher chopping rates. Now low-inductance step motors can be used to improve high-speed performance and system efficiency. |
