Our CYEXP BRG signal conditioning panels provide highly accurate signal excitation and amplification for up to 16 channels. All 16 differential analog inputs are multiplexed into a single analog output, so several hundred signals can be read by a single A/D converter board.
Strain gauges can create special signal conditioning problems because they require precise current and voltage excitation. The CYEXP BRG uses an on-board DC-to-DC converter and the highest quality analog components to create a highly accurate interface to these sensors.
A strain gauge is a metal film bonded to a flexible medium which changes resistance when compressed or expanded. The compression-sensitive resistor is placed into a Wheatstone Bridge, a circuit composed of four resistors excited by a precise voltage. The resistance of the bridge is balanced until compression or deflection changes the resistance of the strain gauge. The resulting change in bridge currents can be precisely measured and converted into "strain."
The CYEXP family also features an 8-channel RTD and bridge and 16-channel RTD multiplexing panels, as well as 16-channel and 32-channel multiplexing terminal panels.
