| A/D Special Features |
Built-in alarm functions can be used to control a process using the built-in digital I/O lines, independent of the host PC. Microprocessor has seven basic functions: - Linearization of T/C (Thermocouple)
- Communication software and command set
- Calibration software
- Alarm monitoring
- Event counting
- Management of the EEPROM device that holds the system parameters
- Data transformation

Current input requires a 125-ohm resistor. Depending on the module’s configuration setting, it can forward the data to the host computer in one of the following formats: - engineering units (°C, mV, V, or mA)
- percent of full-scale range (FSR)
- twos complement hexadecimal

When activated, the on-board alarm function is tied to the two digital outputs: Digital output 0 is tied to the Low alarm state, turning ON if the Low alarm limit is reached (can be momentary, until the A/D input returns within allowed range, or latching where it stays on continuously until the Clear Alarm command is received or the High alarm limit is reached. Digital output 1 is tied to the High alarm state, turning ON if the High alarm limit is reached (can be momentary, until the A/D input returns within allowed range, or latching where it stays on continuously until the Clear Alarm command is received or the Low alarm limit is reached. This arrangement of coupling High and Low alarm states with the digital output lines may be utilized to build ON/OFF controllers that can operate without host computer involvement. | |
